Frequently Asked Questions
Where are sessions held?
HERS Counseling sessions can take place in the comfort of your home via telehealth or outside in a mutually agreed upon location between the client and clinician. If you are interested in walking therapy, we can discuss this in our first telehealth session. Clients need to be in Massachusetts during therapy.
Do you take insurance?
HERS Counseling is an out-of-network practice so I do not accept insurance. I am happy to provide documentation for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
What are out-of-network benefits?
Some insurance companies are able to provide reimbursement for out-of-network providers. Prior to our first session, I recommend calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card and asking about your out-of-network benefits.
Do you take sliding scale clients?
Yes! There are a limited number of sliding scale appointments on a need-based basis.
How do I pay for my session?
I accept all major credit cards including HSA/FSA cards. Payment is requested at the time of service.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel more than 48 hours ahead of our scheduled appointment, there is no cancellation fee. If you cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment, there is a $150 cancellation fee.
Good Faith Estimate
"The No Surprises Act requires health care providers need to give clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services, within one business day of your service. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or how to dispute a bill, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
